What is Barcode Registration?

Zebra Barcode Scanner is an application that allows your customers to find the product info before buying it, by scanning the barcode with the mobile phone. The application is getting the data from IBNREG – International Barcodes Network Registry. The product info registration is free for our barcodes, hence, this should only be purchased if you have acquired a barcode outside of a barcode package.

The advantages of registering online the product info are:

  1. Proves to the retailers that you are using a barcode which is GS1 authentic and globally unique.
  2. Allows your customers to find the product info before buying it, by scanning the barcode with the Zebra Barcode Scanner application.
  3. Increase the internet profile of the product so that when the barcode is searched for on Google or another search engine the product information will appear.
  4. It can dissuade people from using the barcode number illegally. If a quick internet search tells the person that that barcode number is in use they will be much less likely to use the barcode. While people cannot legally use legitimately sold barcode numbers, if they are being used illegally it is an extra hassle for the legal owner of the barcode number to follow this up. This can be easily avoided with barcode registration.
